Our approach to spinal health

A Clearer Picture Before A Care Plan

It is easy to assume healthcare is one size fits all: a sore spot, a standard treatment, a quick answer. That is not how we work. People come in with different histories, bodies, responsibilities and hopes for the years ahead.

The part that can be hard to say out loud

Good care begins when you feel heard before anything is recommended.

I want someone to understand the whole story, not just the sore spot.

It can be frustrating to feel as though you have been given a standard answer for something that is affecting your particular life. Many people are not only looking for care; they are looking for an explanation that makes sense to them.

Does this sound familiar?

Sometimes the hardest part is how quietly life changes around it.

01

You have tried something before and it did not quite answer the bigger question.

02

You want to understand what is contributing before you commit to a plan.

03

You want care that makes sense for your life, rather than a protocol that could belong to anyone.

What might be contributing?

Listen First. Understand First. Recommend Second.

Movement, posture, spinal function and nerve-related findings can all be relevant, but none of them tell the whole story on their own. Your history, your symptoms, your capacity and your goals belong in the conversation too.

That is why we take time to assess, explain findings in plain language and discuss options before we recommend a direction.

What Dr Charlton assesses

Before recommendations, we take time to look at the whole picture.

Not every person needs every test or every approach. The assessment is shaped around what has been happening, what matters to you, and what the findings suggest is appropriate.

  • What has been happening and what you want to get back to
  • Movement, posture and relevant functional findings
  • Appropriate neurological, orthopaedic or imaging considerations
  • The care, exercises, referrals or lifestyle changes that make sense for you

What care could involve

A plan should make sense for your body and your life.

Depending on your assessment, care may include chiropractic adjustments, spinal traction, flexion-distraction, mobility or strengthening work, postural and ergonomic advice, home exercises or referral. Different people need different approaches.

Common questions

A few things people often want to know.

Is every patient adjusted the same way?

No. Recommendations are based on an individual assessment, preferences, goals and what appears appropriate for your situation.

Do you use X-rays for everyone?

No. Imaging is considered when it is clinically indicated and likely to add useful information; it is not routine for every patient.
